No, I haven’t stopped learning the language here; I actually feel like I have reached a level where I can learn faster than I have ever before. However, here I am sitting, wondering how I am going to continue in my journey toward language acquisition.
My professor quit me. She didn’t quit instructing students; in fact, I believe she is taking on a couple more students soon. However, she quit with me, because I finished that big ol’ textbook I have blogged about several times now. I am somewhat puzzled. Did she want to quit because I was a really good student and sort of graduated from her, or was she bored with me because I wasn’t progressing fast enough? I try to just tell myself it was the former and move on.
My language tutor is getting a new job. It’s great that he is vacating his place in the unemployment line. It just makes things harder for me. It means that both my professor and my language tutor are moving on, and I am now reaching a place where I must learn in a much more self-directed manner than ever before.
So, I am looking at starting with a new professor, at least for the remainder of the summer. Will she become bored with me, or insist that I don’t need her, the way that my old one did? We’ll see.
