Today I saw a billboard that said “Hvala za povjerenju” (Thank you for trusting).  It reminded me immediately of a favorite song by Gibonni.

Dvije duše što nam je Bog povjerio (Two souls that God entrusted to us)

Tomorrow night I’ll be playing guitar and singing with a band at a cafe in town.  My organization sponsors a weekly “cafe” meeting in downtown Sarajevo for university students, and part of the night incorporates live music.  Most of the songs we play are popular rock, R&B, or pop songs; some are requested by the students who attend, some are just favorites of mine. » Read the rest of this entry «

What Are You Listening To?

I was just in Alta, a new shopping mall in town, and was surprised to suddenly hear the near-forgotten lyric “I want to know why… I want to know why…” coming from the mall radio.  It was the song “Unforgetful You” by the American CCM band Jars of Clay, one of those Christian bands successful enough to receive occasional airplay on mainstream pop stations throughout the 1990s and 2000s. » Read the rest of this entry «
